On March 18, DedCool is launching Mineral Milk Eau de Parfum. The latest addition to their iconic Milk lineup, it blends the comforting scent of skin-like musk with crisp, fresh mineral ocean air and sun-warmed coastlines. When you wear it, founder and CEO Carina Chaz hopes you “feel transported and grounded at the same time.”

“There is something really powerful about scent that can shift your mood instantly,” she tells Byrdie. “With Mineral Milk, I want it to feel like an exhale. Comforting but bright. Familiar but elevated. Like you are wrapped in warmth with a cool ocean breeze cutting through.”

The Inspiration
As you might’ve guessed, Mineral Milk was inspired by “what it would feel like to pack your favorite Milk fragrance into a coastal escape.”
“I used to live by the ocean, and it’s where my relationship with my husband really began,” shares Chaz. “We’d walk the beach early in the morning with our dog, salt in the air, sun warming my shoulders, the rhythm of the waves becoming this constant backdrop to our days. I was drawn to that image of a quiet, misty shoreline with the faint hum of the highway in the distance, softness meeting something a little raw. That tension between warmth and cool air, comfort and edge, is what shaped Mineral Milk. It feels personal, nostalgic, and slightly cinematic in the way I hoped it would.”
Like the other Milk fragrances (the original, Xtra Milk, and Mochi Milk) and really everything in DedCool’s portfolio, Mineral Milk is made for layering if you so choose. But it also stands on its own! Like…a really soft sweater, the key component of the outfit Chaz says the fragrance reminds her of.
“It would be an oversized cashmere sweater thrown over bare skin, vintage denim, and sand on your ankles. Effortless, a little windswept, nothing too polished,” she explains. “The kind of outfit you wear when you drive up the coast with the windows down and do not overthink it.”

The Fragrance
Per brand standards, Mineral Milk is vegan, paraben-free, cruelty-free, and housed in fully recyclable glass packaging. It was also formulated with DedCool’s Memory Note, a fragrance molecule designed to spark the trigeminal effect/the brain’s ability to give scent a physical sensation. You’ll get to experience its top notes of golden nectar and passionfruit, the coastal lavender, ocean air, and marine salt at the heart, and the notes of amber milk, Virginia cedar, and Australian sandalwood that make up the dry down.
“I love the marine salt and ocean air paired with amber milk. That contrast is everything to me,” says Chaz. “The salt gives it that mineral clarity, and the amber milk keeps it creamy and intimate, like a sweater wrapped around you. I also love the coastal lavender because it adds this hazy, atmospheric layer that makes the whole fragrance feel muted, calm, and a little mysterious.”

The Process
For Chaz, fragrance formulation is always about “the feeling.” When a new scent is ready to be introduced to the world, she’ll know.

“I kept testing it in different environments, on my skin after the shower, layered with other DedCool scents, even on my sweater. When it gave me that physical sensation of warm skin meeting cool mist, I knew we were there,” explains the founder. “Our Memory Note really brings that trigeminal effect to life, so it does not just smell coastal, it feels coastal. When I closed my eyes and could picture that foggy cliff and sun warmed sand, I knew Mineral Milk was finished.”
