Planning the Perfect Galentine’s Day Party: A Celebration of Friendship and Self-Care

Galentine’s Day, celebrated on February 13th, is the perfect occasion to honor the love and bonds we share with our best girlfriends. It’s a day about friendship, self-care, and cherishing the people who make life a little brighter. If you’re looking to host the ultimate Galentine’s Day party this year, you’ve come to the right place. From decorations to festive food and drinks, and even goody bags, we’ve got you covered with a step-by-step guide to make your celebration unforgettable.

Step 1: Set the Theme and Send Invitations

Begin by setting the theme of your party as a celebration of friendship and self-care. Choose a color scheme that reflects love and friendship—think pinks, reds, and whites. Create digital invitations that match your theme and send them to your girlfriends, making sure to highlight that this is a day for them to relax, unwind, and feel cherished.

I love to use www.evite.com for sending out invitations and easily keeping track of RSVP! You can also make the invitation look cute by choosing one of theirs or uploading your own picture. You will find two invitation options below that you can save and use as your invites!

Step 2: Decorations

Create a warm, welcoming environment with your decorations:

  • Balloon Arch: A pink and red balloon arch at the entrance sets the festive mood right from the start.

  • Fringe backdrop: My friends and I are obsessed with fringe backdrops! So easy to just border the whole room with them along all the walls to make the space look completely decked out for such a low cost.

  • Flower Arrangements: Place bouquets of fresh flowers like roses, peonies, and carnations around your space to add beauty and a soft fragrance. I love using tiny vases that only need a few flowers. It makes one bouquet take up a lot of space and look very decorated.
  • Photo Wall: Set up a photo wall with pictures of you and your friends. Decorate it with fairy lights and allow space for guests to add their photos during the party. Get out that polaroid camera!

Step 3: Table Setup

For the table setup:

  • Themed Tablecloth and Centerpieces: Use a pink or red tablecloth and create centerpieces with candles and small bouquets of flowers. Or use one bouquet split up into many tiny vases like linked above
  • Place Settings: Each place setting should include a personalized name card, thematic napkins and plates. and a small gift or favor, a couple of ideas for the favor below:
    • Chocolate
    • Nail polish
    • Self-care kit
    • Eye masks
    • Reusable cooling eye patches
    • Reusable facial Ice roller

Step 4: Festive Food and Drinks

Select a menu that’s fun, festive, and easy to eat. Consider:

  • Heart-Shaped Appetizers: Think mini pizzas, sandwiches, or cheese and crackers cut into heart shapes.
  • Sweet Treats: Offer a variety of desserts such as cupcakes, macarons, and chocolate-dipped strawberries, all decorated in theme colors.
  • Chocolate fondue: Recipe HERE
  • Drink Station: Set up a drink station with options like pink lemonade, a sparkling rosé, and a signature cocktail. Include non-alcoholic options as well to ensure there’s something for everyone.

Step 5: Activities

Plan activities that focus on friendship and self-care:

  • Self care means speaking to yourself with love: Remembering to speak to yourself positively is one of teh highest forms of self care especially because our inner critic can give some serious mean girl energy! Everyone can choose a quote, mantra, statement, or phrase that reminds them to speak to themselves with the same level of love as they speak to all of their besties in the room. You can even provide small frames, card stock paper, and metallic pens for everyone to write their phrase and place in the frame to bring home and place somewhere like their bathroom where they will see it and be reminded of it everyday. The dollar store has cute gold or silver frames in multiple sizes so I usually pick a set of those up from their!
  • DIY Beauty Bar: Set up a station where guests can make their own lip balms or scrubs to take home.
  • Friendship Bracelet Making: Supply materials for everyone to make and exchange friendship bracelets, I love getting Real Stone Beads to surround the words and little Metallic charms to choose one for the end of the bracelet where you tie it to make them looks more expensive.
  • Memory Lane: Have a time where each person shares their favorite memory with the group, or share one thing you love about each person there, you can also write these down and then give them to each other as something to bring home. I love having pre-cut hearts to write things like this on, I just use card stock or craft paper in the themed colors.

Step 6: Goody Bags

Send your guests home with a goody bag filled with items that remind them of the day and encourage self-care:

  • Personalized Notes: Write a heartfelt note to each friend expressing your appreciation for their friendship.
  • Self-Care Goodies: Include items like face masks, hand creams, scented candles, and chocolates.
  • Customized Mementos: put in a note from you and a magnetic Polaroid picture frame for their fridge to choose a photo taken at the party! Click here for my favorite magnetic polaroid frame

Final Thoughts

Hosting a Galentine’s Day party is all about creating a space where your friends feel loved, appreciated, and pampered. With these steps, you’re not just planning a party; you’re crafting an experience that celebrates the beautiful bonds of friendship. Remember, the most important part is to have fun and make memories that will last a lifetime. Happy Galentine’s Day!
